Cookies and GDPR Compliance

As a small business owner I rely on analytics data to monitor the performance of my website and business. As such, I use analytics trackers and services created and provided by Google. These trackers place a small file (cookie) on your device which, through anonymised data, helps me understand which country you are visiting from, the pages you visit, and how long you spend browsing my website. You can read more about the trackers placed by Automattic for WordPress here.

I also make use of browser caching, again using cookies to see if you have visited my site before. Browser caching helps to reduce page load times, meaning that your experience of my website is faster and more streamlined. I do this for two reasons. Firstly, so that you don’t have to wait as long to see a page. Secondly, so that Google ranks my website higher in search engine results pages.

You can turn off browser caching in your browser settings.

By continuing to browse this website you accept my use of cookies. If for whatever reason you don’t agree with my privacy policy then you have three options.

Your first option (the not very helpful one for you or for me) is to simply navigate away from this site and clear your browser cache. The second option is to update the cookie settings in the browser you use to block cookies. The third option (the one I recommend) is to install a browser privacy plugin calIed Ghostery which not only blocks cookies but prevents requests for cookies being transferred from website to browser in the first place. This will help you control your privacy settings across the internet, not just on my website. With Ghostery you have the option to individually white list sites that you trust.

Personal Data and Forms

I do not use a contact form on my website and as such I do not collect personally identifiable information in an automated fashion. If you get in touch with me by phone or by email as per the contact details I provide on this website, I will use the information you provide me to discuss your enquiry. I will not add you to a mailing list, and nor will I sell or exchange your data (names, contact details, event dates and locations etc). You can of course tell me in the course of our correspondence that you no longer wish to be contacted by phone or by email which I will respect with immediate effect.
